Vanishing simple quotes using Import Utility

Post Reply

Hi,

When I try to import string data from .xlsx files with Import Utility, all simple quotes (') disappear. I've not found the way to protect/escape them.
Does anyone have any idea about how to solve it ?

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for posting.

There are a number of invalid characters that we explicitly strip from the content before it is imported via the Import Utility.

Several of Microsoft Office’s “smart characters” are excluded because they use character codes that are not valid Unicode characters.

Are your missing characters examples of these, e.g. ` or are you seeing ‘valid’ characters such as ‘ being dropped? (I hope you can see the difference between my two single-quote examples!)

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for your reply.

Here are some test results of various simple quotes characters import :
  • import spreadsheet with strings containing ASCII characters #39 #96 #145 #146 and #180
  • import specifications according to spreadsheet content
  • viewer result screen capture
As shown, all simple quotes characters are well imported and published, except the one we usually use : #39

Has this one to be considered as an excluded "smart character" ?
